THE STORY

Corrado Gex was born in Arvier on April 12, 1932. He died in a plane accident on April 25, 1965. he was the first Italian pilot to get the experimental authorization to land on glaciers.

He was elected in the Deputies Chamber of the Italian Government during the fourth Legislature as a representative for the Aosta Valley Region in 1963 and he helped the liberalization of the use of landing areas, through the approving of the law 518 on April 2, 1968.

From the initiative of the remaining members of the old Aer Aosta Society founded in 1963 by Corrado Gex, Silvio Laurencet and Cesare Balbis, and thanks to other older pilots belonging to the Aosta Valley Association of High Mountains pilots founded in 1971, in 2004 the Corrado Gex Aero Club was born.

Among the cofounders can be included the present President of the Italian Aero Club Senator Guiseppe Leoni, and the Regional President Augusto Rollandin, who believes in a touristic development of his region, also through the flying sport open to everybody.
